This September, I am participating in the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation's Month of Hope. Thirty days where supporters are raising vital funds needed by the Foundation for their programming, so they can continue to be a source of hope for the children and families they serve for years to come.
The Foundation is located in a historically black neighborhood of Jacksonville and for over 24 years has been providing low-income children with a comprehensive youth development program. Their programs provide youth with academic assistance, life skills, enrichment activities, mental health counseling, mentoring, tennis lessons and more. MWYF students, on average, miss less days of school, have higher GPAs and are promoted to the next grade at a higher rate than their peers in Duval County.
